Aggregation at Stegemann Lohnverpackung now possible!

Since 2019, we have been successfully carrying out the serialization of pharmaceuticals for our customers.

With the new T15 aggregation unit from Mettler-Toledo, Stegemann as a contract packer is now also able to map and offer the complete process of serialization and subsequent aggregation. This means that we not only comply with the EU Anti-Counterfeiting Directive, but can also serve countries in which aggregation is mandatory.

What is aggregation?

Aggregation is the process of creating so-called "parent-child relationships" between different packaging units. For example, already serialized folding boxes are combined to form a larger unit (e.g. a bundle). Through the "parent-child relationship, it is thus possible to later trace which folding box is in which bundle.

The next packaging unit could then be the shipping carton and finally the pallet. For identification purposes, each packaging unit is given a code (barcode or data matrix code) that is either printed directly on it or applied using a printed label.

Mettler-Toledo describes how the T15 works as follows:

"The T15 Manual Aggregation finds its application in the manual aggregation of small batches. Its particular flexibility allows almost all product formats and packaging to be covered.

A manual scanner is used to verify the codes on the units. The codes are automatically collected and compiled by the PLM. Based on the information collected, a label is generated and printed so that the link between parent and child units is reproduced quickly and reliably. The handheld scanner is then used to verify the printed label.

Depending on how the line is structured, aggregation can take the following forms:

from article to bundle/carton

from bundle to carton

from carton to pallet

from bundle to pallet

The system can also be used offline as a rework station".
